The Vancouver Canucks know how to spread holiday cheer on social media. The viral eCard app on their holiday website reached 850x more new connections per fan that participated and inspired shares on every major social network just hours after launching on Friday, December 13.
The interactive eCards feature Kevin Bieksa, Ryan Kesler, Roberto Luongo, Alex Burrows, Daniel and Henrik Sedin in their hilariously ugly Christmas sweaters. Fans simply choose from the roster of eCard templates, decorate their card with pre-made stickers and finish it off with their own holiday message. Once their masterpiece is complete, app artistes can send their personalized card to their friends and family, post it to their Facebook Timeline and set it as their Cover Photo, sharing the Canucks Christmas spirit with their social networks.
After only three days, Canucks eCards made by fans have gone viral on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+. The awesome (and arguably adorable) app garnered so much attention on its first day that the Vancouver Sun wrote an article about it here.
